Scouting Since 1920

Here at 6th Ashton-under-Lyne Scout Group we actively engage and support young people from the age of 6 years upwards in their personal development, empowering them to make a positive contribution to society. We do this through various methods both indoors and out, in addition we take part in numerous adventurous activities throughout the year including;

• camping
• hiking
• climbing
• shooting
• archery
• water sports
• grass sledging
• snow sports
• pioneering
• orienteering

Whilst learning new skills, trying new activities, and making life-long friends we try to instill the following Values of Scouting in every young person we work with, and we find that young people benefit the most from Scouting when they, in partnership with adults, work together and:

• enjoy what they are doing and have fun
• take part in activities indoors and outdoors
• learn by doing
• share in spiritual reflection
• take responsibility and make choices
• undertake new and challenging activities
• make and live by their Promise.
